MINONK – Donald A. Gaspardo, 75, died at 10:27 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2018, at OSF St. James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac.
He was born July 27, 1942, in Dana, the son of John and Margaret Sullivan Gaspardo. He married Carolyn Steinhilber on Aug. 14, 1971, in Minonk. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Joe (Kristy) Gaspardo, Minonk; two grandchildren, Brenna Gaspardo and Jaylen Gaspardo; two brothers, Thomas Gaspardo and Robert Prince, Jr, both of Dana, and one sister, Kay (Howard) Knack, Minonk.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Ellen Gaspardo, two brothers, John Gaspardo and Jim Gaspardo, and his stepfather, Robert Prince, Sr.
Don was a lifelong farmer and also worked for Portable Elevator Company and assisted with Davis Brothers Excavating. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Minonk, Minonk Knights of Columbus Council No. 985, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Council Streator Assembly No. 2109 and the Illinois Valley 2 Cylinder Club.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church with Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation will take place Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk, is in charge of the arrangements.
