ROANOKE – George M. Jenkins, 45, died at 4:03 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Center in Peoria.
He was born Nov. 18, 1972, in Peoria, the son of George C. and Audrey Brubaker Jenkins. He married Kimberly Nutt on Sept. 20, 1997. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Cody (Ally) Jenkins, Pattonsburg and Levi Jenkins, at home; one daughter, Macy Jenkins, at home; one brother, Steve (Chris) Jenkins, Roanoke and one sister, Carol (Tom) Robison, Sauk Rapids, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Barb Robison, and one niece, Amy Robison.
George worked in the automotive industry for many years as a mechanic and service manager. He realized his dream of owning his own business in 2013 when he and his son Cody opened Jenkins Automotive in Roanoke. George enjoyed many things in life. He loved working on and racing old muscle cars, camping and spending time outdoors, but the thing he cherished most was spending time with his family, especially around a good steak dinner. George attended Crosspoint Community Church, rural Eureka.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Visitation will take place Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. Per his wishes, cremation rites will follow the celebration of life.
Memorials may be made to an education fund for his son, Levi that has been established at Roanoke-Benson Community Bank.
