ROANOKE – John M. Deffenbaugh, 70, the brother of a Roanoke resident, died Monday, April 9, 2018, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Streator.
He was born Dec. 25, 1947, in Streator, the son of Harry “Bud” and Julia Laubhan Deffenbaugh.
Survivors include two sisters, Barb (Bob) Cherveny, Roanoke and Carolyn Wayman, Pontiac; one brother, Richard Deffenbaugh, Streator and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Donald Wayman.
John was born and raised in Streator. He attended Grand Ridge Grade School, Grand Ridge, and graduated from Streator Township High School, Streator. John served in the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict and was stationed in Guam and the Philippines. He was a member of the Streator Eagles’ Club, Streator.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Streator with the Rev. Raymond Guthrie officiating. Visitation will take place Saturday morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator, where military rites will be conducted by Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post No. 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1492, both of Streator. Solon-Telford Funeral Home in Streator is in charge of the arrangements.
