ROANOKE – Norman P. Seckler, 63, died at 5:53 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 at Unity Point Health/Methodist in Peoria.
He was born June 18, 1954, in Peoria, the son of Everett E. and Mildred Donohue Seckler. He married Sharon S. Springer on July 7, 1973, in Eureka. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Norman Paul (Rachel) Seckler Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Elizabeth (Chris) Leman, Washington; six grandchildren; three brothers, Arnold Seckler, Cazenovia, Steve Seckler, Minonk and Dennis (Suzie) Seckler, Metamora and five sisters, Edna Marchand, Peoria, Candace (Jack) Miller, Foley, Ala., Mary Shawback, Lostant, Theresa Seckler, East Peoria and Jean (Dave) Stivers, Washburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lois Seckler, and two brothers, John “Jack” Seckler and Bruce Seckler.
Norman started employment at DMI, which later became CNH, in Goodfield in March of 1976, where he worked as a tool maker and built welding fixtures, before he retired in September of 2013. He was a member of Christ Reformed Baptist Church in Metamora. Norman was a quiet, gentle man and faithful in all that he did. He enjoyed spending time with his family, building go-carts for family and friends and playing his dulcimer.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Bethany Community Church in Washington with the Rev. Kent Kloter officiating. Visitation will take place Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in Roanoke Township Cemetery, Roanoke.
