MINONK - Behind the four-hit pitching of Emma Lorton, Fieldcrest defeated El Paso-Gridley 3-1 in the former's regional play-in game Monday at Veteran's Park.

Lorton, who allowed an unearned run in the top of the first inning, racked up a dozen strikeouts for the Knights (8-12).

“I think we all have confidence in her when she’s out there,” Fieldcrest coach Liz Kay said. “She’s really stepped up with her strikeouts.”

Fieldcrest grabbed the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second and added one in the third. Lexi Jochums picked up three hits, while Alaina Tjaden followed with two. Cheyenne Carr took the loss for the Titans (7-17).
