MINONK - Fieldcrest ran into a buzzsaw named Deer Creek-Mackinaw on Friday in a 64-47 Heart of Illinois Conference defeat. The Chiefs never trailed in the contest and led by as many as 23.
DCM (19-6, 7-3) shot 48 percent (23 of 48) from the floor and received a career-high 26 points from 6-foot-6 center Dawson Jones.
"They run a lot of flex cuts on the outside," Knights' coach Matt Winkler said. "In the first quarter, they got about four easy baskets off of inbounds plays. We did a horrible job communicating on that."
Cameron Grandy paced Fieldcrest (14-10, 4-6) with 14 points and set a single-game program record with 10 blocked shots. The Knights began just one of 10 on three-pointers, but made six of their next 14.
