RUNNING BY HIS LONESOME – Andrew Gochanour of Fieldcrest sets his own pace in the mile at last week's triangular at Manlius. He ended up winning the event for the Knights (For the Journal/Carol Bauer).

Fieldcrest 7, Ridgeview 2: Michael Morse had two hits and drove in two runs for the Knights (4-2, 2-0) in Heart of Illinois Conference action Monday in Colfax.

Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn 9, Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland 0: Sam Hodel pitched a three-hit shutout for the Rockets (3-6) in Monday's rescheduled Tri-County Conference opener.

Eureka 1, Tri-Valley 2: Austin Davis supplied both of the hits for the Hornets (7-2) in their league opener Monday in Downs.

RBLW 1, Putnam County 9: Nate Woodward supplied one of the four hits for the TCC guests on Tuesday.

SOFTBALL

Eureka 4, T-V 5: Morgan Greene's two hits and two runs batted in led Eureka (3-3) in their HOIC opener on Monday at Downs.

TRACK

Gastman wins: Logan Gastman of the LWRB co-op took first in the high jump at a hextangular Tuesday at Tremont.

BASKETBALL

Grandy, Lorton net points: Fieldcrest's Cameron Grandy (seven) and Emma Lorton (six) played in Saturday's Illinois Valley all-star game held on the campus of Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby. Grandy played for the Purple, who lost 117-94 to White. Lorton suited up for the White in an 83-55 setback to the Purple.
