Question: Can you name the plants that 100 years ago were considered the “miracle drug of the age” for common aches and pains but today grow in your own yard … until you get rid of them?

Answer: The dandelion, one of the many rites of spring, was also yesterday’s “miracle cure.” In the early 1900s, people would sneak into each others’ yards and take theirs. There are even records of "stolen-dandelion" arrests being made in Bloomington.
