Question: Taking place 160 years ago this summer, the famed “Lincoln-Douglas debates” between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas focused on the issue of slavery and were recently rated by The History Channel as the greatest political debates in the history of America. Can you name the seven Illinois towns where the debates occurred?

Answer: Ottawa, Freeport, Jonesboro, Charleston, Galesburg, Quincy and Alton. While not debating at the address, both Lincoln and Douglas are said to have appeared to talk about slavery in a park at 701 E. Taylor where today sits Vrooman Mansion.
