Question: One of Bloomington’s busiest stores this week is the Fannie May chocolates store at Eastland Mall, along with all the wine stores. Why is it that chocolates, especially when merged with wines, are so big at Valentine's Day time?
Answer: Says Fannie May's Elliott Callahan: “Both chocolate and wine have a long been regarded as aphrodisiacs, so they make a natural pair for Valentine's. They are foods that deliver a unique pleasure and a sense of well-being for us." Along with Christmas, Valentine's Day is, by the way, our oldest observance to be celebrated, dating back to 14th century Europe, some 400 years before America was even born.
