BLOOMINGTON — The CEO of Growmark Inc. is retiring.

Jim Spradlin on Wednesday told the board of directors he's retiring Feb. 28.

He's been top executive of the Bloomington-based agricultural supply cooperative since September 2014. He started in 1982 as an accounting trainee and rose through the ranks.

When Illinois enters phase five Friday it will be the first time in more than a year that there are no limitations on the size of gatherings and most public activities.

Growmark board Chairman John Reifsteck said Spradlin's "leadership as CEO has been transformational, and he will leave a legacy of innovation in digital technology, leadership development, succession planning, and the establishment of an enterprise-wide strategy that is yielding increased customer satisfaction and financial success.”

A search process is underway to find his replacement, Reifsteck said.
