CVS Pharmacy to close in Streator
STREATOR - The CVS Pharmacy at Northpoint will close Jan. 14 after 20 years in town.
The store employed a dozen people and Mike DeAngelius, a spokesman for the CVS chain, said workers have been offered a chance to relocate. The Woonsocket, R.I.-based chain decided not to renew its lease in Streator based on a "business decision," said DeAngelius.
Streator has four other pharmacies that are not part of the chain.
Farmers to receive dividend from insurer
BLOOMINGTON - Illinois farmers will receive a 20 percent return on premiums paid to Country Insurance & Financial Services for crop-hail coverage in 2005.
The Bloomington-based insurer is returning $2.1 million to nearly 14,000 Illinois policyholders after experiencing lower-than-expected crop damages from hail.
"During 2005, we experienced fewer crop-hail losses than usual because of favorable weather conditions, which makes the dividend return possible," said Jeff Gendron, Country Insurance senior vice president of property and casualty operations.
Payments to policyholders will be made in March and will vary based on the amount of insurance purchased.
Country has paid a dividend to Illinois farmers eight of the last 11 years.
