BLOOMINGTON — Nominees have been named for the annual Crystal Awards given by the Bloomington-Normal chapter of the Association for Women in Communications.
The awards, which celebrate women in communications, and those who bring the community together, will be given out Feb. 22. Keynote speaker will be retired judge Elizabeth Robb.
Nominees for the Outstanding Woman in Communications are Kim Kaufman of State Farm and Nikita Richards of the city of Bloomington. Kaufman is a specialist on the insurer's social media/brand content team. Richards is human resource employment coordinator for the city. The award is given for excellence in communications.
The Innovation Award honors excellence in communicating a project, mission, or event. Nominees are Sarah Franzen, corporate communications at Country Financial and active with Make-A-Wish Foundation; Betty Kinser, Illinois State University trustee and political activist; Monica Cousins Noraian, ISU scholar and proponent of women’s leadership; Melissa Ramirez, admissions counselor at Illinois Wesleyan University and Dreamers activist; and Beth Whisman, executive director of McLean County Museum of History.
Nominees for the Crystal Award are Molly Davis and Kris Harding, both of ISU, and Kari McMullen of State Farm. The AWC Student Scholarship also will be awarded.
The awards dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at DoubleTree by Hilton. Tickets at $40 each are available at www.awcbn.org and are available to the public.
