GIBSON CITY — The last edition of the Gibson City Courier will be Dec. 31.
“It is with much sadness that we make this announcement,” said Craig Rogers, Courier publisher. “We have been privileged to be part of life in Gibson City, chronicling everything from local high school sports to business openings to the city council.
The weekly newspaper has a circulation of 800.

"It goes without saying that we appreciate the loyal support shown the Courier over the years, and we know the paper has been an integral part of the community,” said Rogers.
Despite the loyal following of Courier readers, declining advertising and circulation revenue have made continued publication an unprofitable venture.
The Central Illinois Advertiser, a free weekly publication, also will cease publication.
The Pantagraph will continue to publish other weekly editions, including Community News; the Woodford County Journal (Eureka and Roanoke editions); and the Woodford Star.
