ROANOKE – Martin Sullivan will acquire the assets of Kleine Equipment pending Kleine’s upcoming closing. Additionally, Martin Brothers Implement Co. and Martin Sullivan will complete a merger during this time, but local customers of the John Deere implement dealer in Roanoke will not notice changes in sales or service.
“We don’t expect our customers to view many changes,” said Martin Sullivan CEO Ben Rogers. “The names on the building are going to change, but the service will be the same.”
The transaction was effective Jan. 1. The acquisition will result in a John Deere dealership that consists of 13 locations throughout Central and Western Illinois with over 300 employees and sales responsibilities in 19 Illinois counties and one Missouri county.
Rogers said the change makes the John Deere territories the company is serving contiguous, which caused separations in the businesses in the past due to rules set by Deere.
“This happened over time,” Rogers said. “When Kleine became available, we were able to combine them. Everything is based out of Roanoke. We’re still the same company.”
Kleine Equipment was happy to see the businesses connected.
“We are fortunate to have a John Deere dealership, which has been in business for four generations becoming a part of our community,” said Mark Kleine, owner of Kleine Equipment.
Martin Sullivan reflects a name change due to the merger of the Sullivan business on the west side of the state with the Roanoke, Lexington and Bloomington business owned by the Martin family in Central Illinois.
“The strength and stability of our organization is solidified through the talented employees that have been a part of Kleine Equipment, Martin Brothers, and Martin Sullivan,” said Bill Sullivan, owner and regional Sales Manager of Martin Sullivan.
