Sale of Eastland gift cards disrupted by sale

BLOOMINGTON — Eastland Mall shoppers can buy gift cards again soon, possibly today.

Going through the transitions of new ownership, the mall has temporarily stopped selling gift cards, which are good at any of the mall's stores.

Tennessee-based CBL & Associates Properties Inc. purchased Eastland Mall as part of a three-mall, $516.9 million deal in October. The deal wasn't finalized until mid-November, however, and Eastland apparently needed gift cards with the CBL stamp.

While representatives with Eastland and CBL were unavailable, mall staff said the gift cards likely would be available today.

Cards were on hand Thursday, but the mall was waiting for corporate approval to begin selling them.

Eastland Mall is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
