Investing in Tomorrow’s Leaders Today: First Christian Church Partners with NCFCA to Host a Regional Qualifying Speech and Debate Tournament
December 16, 2017
CLINTON, Illinois – First Christian Church announced today that it will host the Illinois Regional Qualifying Speech and Debate Tournament sponsored by The National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA). The three-day speech and debate tournament will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2018 through Saturday, January 27, 2018. Over 150 students from a six-state region will gather to compete in eleven speech categories and two debate styles.
COMMUNITY JUDGES NEEDED
Community judges are a vital part of NCFCA’s tournament structure, and 250 community members are needed to serve as volunteer judges for this event. Volunteers will serve approximately three hours, listening and giving feedback to the competitors and enjoying refreshments provided by local vendors. No experience is necessary as orientation will be provided before each round. Cody Monkman, Minister of Community Impact and Care at First Christian Church, explains, "This is a great opportunity for community volunteers to invest in students. Last year, I remember thinking I was unqualified to be a judge. After doing it, I was so glad that I volunteered. I left encouraged knowing that there are young people who are striving to be the best leaders for tomorrow." For more information, volunteers may e-mail NCFCA.email@example.com or visit www.ncfcajudges.com.
The National Christian Forensics and Communications Association is a national speech and debate league that trains students to think critically and communicate effectively by offering tournaments to homeschool students ages 12 through 18. To learn more, visit www.ncfca.org.
