NAILING IT

TAKING A TUMBLE - Sara Baker assists Racheal Lindberg at the former's dance and tumbling studio she recently opened in the downtown Minonk business district.

MINONK - Sara Baker has been dancing around the idea of having her own studio since she was very young and has recently achieved her goal.

Baker opened Sara’s Shining Stars at 444 N. Chestnut St. in early March and offers floor tumbling and dance lessons including tap, jazz, modern and expressive dancing. Her clients include children and adults, boys and girls, in group, semi-private or private lessons.

“When I was young, dance came very natural to me. I love teaching,” Baker said. “It fills a need to give kids something to do and helps them grow, learn and excel.”

Baker, who has been dancing since she was four years old, noted dance and tumbling is good physical exercise that adds strength, agility and offers the ability to learn to move with music. But it also helps teach self-discipline, how to be a team player and taking pride in one’s self and others as they accomplish new tricks.
