EUREKA - The United Methodist Church and the administrative board of Jacob’s Ladder Child Care, located in the church, has announced it will not re-open the facility. The daycare was abruptly shuttered a few weeks ago. The reason cited was lack of sufficient staff to meet the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) requirements.
According to the Rev. Paul Weir, pastor of the church, "in the challenging employment environment we are in, we have been unable to recruit sufficient staff with the required DCFS qualifications.”
That left parents with less options for professional child care at a difficult time to find those services since school just began. Another local organization, Noah’s Ark, was attempting to fill in where it could.
Jacob's Ladder existed for approximately two decades to assist in the increase need for daycare in the community.
