EUREKA - Emma Paul is Central Illinois’ “Country Idol 2018” after winning a singing competition this past fall. The 19-year-old Eureka native and first-year student at Eureka College bettered nine others to garner cash, gift certificates and a free studio recording session. The contest was held last month and sponsored by Bloomington radio station 107.7 The Bull and the Mackinaw Valley Vineyard, Mackinaw.
“I first found out about the competition on the radio station’s Facebook page,” Paul said. “The station required a one-minute video audition clip and from there they narrowed it down to those who would actually compete. There were three rounds, so I had to have three to four songs prepared.”
The singers were critiqued by three judges after each round.
According to Paul, she is most excited about winning a complimentary five-hour session at Eclipse Studios in Normal, where she will record one of her original songs, complete with full tracking, mixing and mastering.
