ROANOKE - Thursday night's school board meeting was the final one for Roanoke-Benson Superintendent Dr. Rohn Peterson, who has retired after 12 years.

He received a desktop keepsake as a gift along with appreciation from the board.

“We appreciate what you’ve done for us and the community,” board president Brad Sauder said. “We got through some rocky moments together.”

Peterson noted he is thankful for the board’s work and cooperation over the years. His successor, Tom Welsh, will start July 1. He was hired back on Dec. 12.
