EUREKA –The first installment of Woodford County property tax bills is due this Friday. Owners have several payment options, all of which are listed on the back of the tax bill. Taxes may be paid (by check or cash) in person at the treasurer’s office on the first floor of the county courthouse, at a participating bank or by mail if postmarked on or before Friday. Checks should be made payable to Woodford County Collector and mailed to 115 N. Main St., Suite 105, Eureka, 61530. Taxes may also be paid with any major credit card, debit card or by e-check either over the Internet by logging onto www.woodford-county.org, then click on ”click here to Pay Property Taxes” or by phone to 1 (877) 637-1395. There will be a convenience fee of 2.35 percent plus $1.50 per transaction fee charged for credit card and debit card payments, and $2 charge for e-checks. Credit/debit card payments are not accepted in the office.

Taxes paid after the due date will be assessed a 1.5 percent penalty per month. There is a penalty calculation chart on the payment coupons of the bills showing the amounts to pay, including penalty, if paid after the due dates. If property owners did not receive a tax bill, they should contact the treasurer’s office or search the public information on the county website. Failure to receive a bill does not relieve the tax payer of the obligation to pay and penalties will be assessed if paid after the due date.

The other due date for the payment of tax bills is Sept. 6. For more information, contact the county treasurer's office, (309) 467-4621.
