ROANOKE - The opportunity to recycle materials locally that would normally end up in a landfill could soon become a thing of the past, the village board warned during Monday evening's meeting.
A constant influx of non-recyclables dropped off at the bins located in town is giving the board cause to reconsider offering the service.
“The people are going to lose this if they do not police it themselves,” commented board president Mike Smith.
The town has offered the drop-off site for several years and recently considered a proposal to offer curbside recycling through its garbage hauler instead. However, curbside is no longer an option.
