ROANOKE - At the July 1 meeting, the village board imposed a $1,000 fine on Club 116 for a violation of the liquor ordinance. The board responded to charges against Club 116 in connection with a sting operation conducted by Woodford County Sheriff’s Deputies when liquor was sold to a minor.

According to Justin Erickson, who is a co-owner of the establishment, the bartender on duty at the time of the incident had been trained and looked at the license, but failed to notice the subject was underage.

“He messed up,” Erickson said. “He has some challenges. He is no longer bar tending.”

Although Erickson paid the fine, he mentioned to the board he thought the amount is too much.

Under terms of the ordinance, a business is accessed a $1,000 fine and increases for any subsequent violation.
