ROANOKE - On Monday night, the village board approved a recommendation from the zoning board to switch designated properties located on Mill Street from industrial-1 to residential-2. Currently, they are being used as residential.

The change was enacted to make it easier to sell the residences inside the district. Participation in some loan programs requires certain zoning factors to be in place. It was noted at an earlier meeting there are more locations in the village that are used as residential, but are zoned industrial. If a house is built on property zoned industrial and is destroyed or torn down, another house cannot be built on the property without a zoning change. It is one of the matters the zoning board may address in the future.
