ROANOKE - Woodford County Sheriff Matt Smith outlined a new police contract with local officials at the March 18 village board meeting. Smith told the board he reviewed the figures from the current contract and made some changes to bring them in line with actual costs.
“Under the county’s direction, the contract is supposed to break even,” Smith said. “We went through the contracts this year and made some changes. We’re pretty confident what we’ve got in it will be accurate."
According to Smith, the cost of a proposed one-year contract would drop from $127,414.02 this year to $126,611 next year. However, he also offered the village the option of extending the contract to four years.
