EUREKA – Benjamin M. Shoup Sr., 87, of Allerton, Iowa, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa.
He was born Jan. 29, 1932, near Secor, the son of Ancil and Goldie Woosley Shoup. He married Wanda Farner on Feb. 27, 1950, in Eureka. She died in 2005. He married Judy Sherman on May 29, 2008. She died in 2015.
Survivors include two sons, Benjamin (Barb) Shoup Jr., Eureka and William (Ruth) Shoup, Allerton; one daughter, Patricia Baer, Secor; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one brother-in-law, Carroll Pruitt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, two brothers and three great-grandchildren.
Ben worked for Caterpillar and at Conklin’s Dinner Theater, Goodfield, before he retired in 1997. The couple raised their children on the family farm near Secor. After his retirement, they purchased a home in Allerton to be more involved in the Iowa farming operation. After his second marriage, Ben and his wife moved to Peoria Heights.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private burial will be held at a later date. Thomas Funeral Home, Corydon, is in charge of the arrangements.
