ROANOKE – Eldon G. Bayles, 80, of Normal, formerly of Roanoke, died at 4:36 a.m., Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.
He was born Nov. 5, 1938, in Stanford, the son of Glenn and Edith Mae Carney Bayles. He married Patricia Miller on Feb. 11, 1961. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Carla (John Walton) Taylor, Colfax; one son, Doug (Bernadette) Bayles, Owasso, Okla.; three grandchildren, Treavor Taylor, Tristin Ramirez and Brittney Bayles; one brother, Ronald (Darla) Bayles, Colfax and two sisters, Gleneda Hayes, Aurora, Colo., and Sandra Warren, Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Eldon served in the Army. He worked for Central Illinois Trucking for 35 years before he retired. Eldon was an avid fan of all sports, but had a true love and passion for working in the cattle barn.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Colfax. Visitation will take place Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the memorial home. Burial will follow the service in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax, where military rites will be conducted.
