ROANOKE – Eldon R. Ulrich, 85, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Oct. 21, 1933, in Eureka, the son of David and Nora Wagner Ulrich. He married Dorothy G. Davies on Nov. 10, 1962, in Eureka. She died July 24, 1992.
Survivors include one son, Mark Ulrich, Roanoke; one daughter, Julie (Tom) Cleary, El Paso and two grandchildren, Rachel Cleary, Bloomington and Brooke (Taylor) Wettstein, Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
Eldon served in the Navy from 1956 to 1967 and was stationed at the Aleutian Islands in Alaska and also in Hawaii. He worked for Peoria Tire and East Peoria Tire from 1966 until he retired in 1999. Eldon attended Roanoke United Methodist Church, Roanoke. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and loved being outside working on his yard or in his garden.
Services will be held April 5 at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Robert Herath officiating. Visitation will take place April 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial of cremains will be held in Roanoke Township Cemetery in Roanoke following the service. Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home, Roanoke, is in charge of the arrangements.
