EUREKA – Eva M. Gottshall, 79, died at 12:28 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at her home near Eureka.
She was born Oct. 12, 1939, in Dundee, N.Y., the daughter of Charles B. and Eva Maedore Clark Cady. She married Paul L. Gottshall on May 22, 1959, in Dundee. He died April 2, 2018.
Survivors include two daughters, Lorraine (Dan) Wilson, Plano, Texas, and Amy (Chuck) Ely, Seattle, Wash.; one son, Paul (Arlene) Gottshall, Washington; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Lloyd (Barb) Cady, New Iberia, La., and Duane (Pat) Cady, Dundee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son who died shortly after birth, and one brother.
Eva was named in honor of her mother and aunt. She graduated with a degree in nursing alongside her oldest daughter in 1980. Eva worked as a registered nurse (RN) at Eureka College and Eureka Hospital for many years. She was a devoted Christian, as well as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The family has many fond memories and pictures of Eva with the family, always with a smile on her face. She was an active member of Living Faith Fellowship Church in Eureka, as well as the Woodford County Historical Society for many years. In previous years, Eva was very involved in community events, served as a volunteer and board member with the Et Cetera Shop in Eureka and president of the Eureka Women’s Club. She also enjoyed gardening, bowling, sewing, time on their Christmas tree farm and collecting antiques.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Brett Woerner officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Eureka, and Thursday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka.
Memorials may be made to the church’s building fund.
