ROANOKE – Helen E. Brown, 86, died at 10:23 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
She was born July 22, 1933, in Roanoke, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Fischer Farney. She married Donald L. Brown on Nov. 28, 1954, in Roanoke. He died Dec. 10, 2011, in Roanoke.
Survivors include five daughters, Laurel (Mike) Santi, Columbia, Mo., Susan Rocke, Eureka, Marsha (Tom) Durand, Roanoke, Karen (Gordon) Presley, Carlock and Diane (Kim) Steffen, Hampshire; one son, Daniel (Beth) Brown, Wheaton; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Helen was always giving to her family, community and church. She loved volunteering her time at the AC Home of Roanoke and at the Roanoke AC Church, rural Roanoke, in which she was a member of and where she was active in the World Relief quilting over the years. Helen loved spending time with her family and enjoyed gardening, quilting and crocheting.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the church with ministers of the church officiating. Visitation will take place Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and Saturday morning from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
