SECOR – Herman W. Seggerman, 97, died at 4:45 p.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at Heritage Health in El Paso.
He was born Sept. 17, 1921, in Secor, the son of Henry B. and Etta Dirks Seggerman. He married JoHanna E. Mueller on Oct. 10, 1943, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Minonk. She died May 28, 2016.
Survivors include three sons, Larry (Barb) Seggerman and Robert (Kathy) Seggerman, both of Secor, and Billy (Ilse) Seggerman, Eureka; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one brother, Clifford Seggerman, Secor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Herman served in the Army Ordnance during World War II and was stationed in France, the Philippines and Japan. He worked for Heyl Motor Co. in Eureka, Caterpillar and the Woodford County Highway Department in Roanoke for 29 years before he retired. Herman was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Secor Fire Department both of Secor. He was the last surviving charter member of the fire department.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Michael Peters officiating. Visitation will take place Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso. Burial will follow the service in Secor Cemetery, Secor, where military rites will be conducted.
Memorials may be made to the church or to the fire department.
