EUREKA – Janette Chally, 88, died at 10:27 p.m., Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
She was born July 5, 1931, in Taylorville, the daughter of Joseph and Belma Manes Durbin. She married John W. Chally on July 13, 1950, in Aurora. He died Feb. 15, 2013.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Brown, Battle Creek, Mich.; two sons, Tim (Nancy) Chally, Eureka and Daniel (Mary Beth) Chally, Franklin, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Donnie Smith, Clinton, Ark., Winnie (Greg) Minkel, Port Charlotte, Fla., Bobby Gyovai, Aurora, Doris Black, Morris and Diane (Ron) Eberly, Yorkville and one brother, Michael (Sandy) Clauss, South Bend, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Janette worked for many years at the Aurora Public Library and the Sandwich Public Library. She was a member of Liberty Bible Church, Eureka, where she was involved in the children’s ministries, the Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (AWANA) program and a teacher with the after school Good News Club. Janette loved to read, cook, bake, sew, as well as being a loving and faithful grandmother, praying for and ministering to her children and grandchildren. She continually looked for opportunities to share her faith and to encourage others even as she spent the last few years in residency at the AC Home of Eureka.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the church with her son, Tim Chally, and Michael Brown officiating. Visitation will take place Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Monday morning from 9 to 10 a.m., both at the church. A graveside service will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at West Lisbon Cemetery, Lisbon. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is in charge of the arrangements.
