Judy Seifert

MINONK – Judy A. Seifert, 77, died at 8:02 a.m., Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, at her home in Peoria.

She was born June 3, 1942, in Streator, the daughter of Emory M. and Mary Schneider Seifert.

Survivors include one brother, Bob (Carol) Seifert, Roanoke; one nephew, Scott Timmerman, Minonk; two nieces, Carrie (Mike) Oltman and Lacie Seifert, both of Roanoke; one great-niece, Madalyn Oltman, and one great-nephew, Dalton Lohr.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Rosemary Timmerman.

Judy grew up on a farm south of Toluca and in 1950, the family moved to a farm north of Minonk. Judy attended St. Patrick’s School in Minonk and graduated from Minonk-Dana-Rutland High School in 1960. After high school, she enrolled at Midstate College in Peoria and stayed at the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), where she met several girls and remained friends with them all through the years. After graduation, she started to work at the James Unland Insurance Co. and continued to work there for over 40 years. Judy was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the German Society, both of Peoria. She served as president of her condo complex, which she enjoyed. Judy took many bus trips to Memphis, Tenn., and volunteered at the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Peoria. She loved taking bus trips to different events with her friends and with her great-nephew. Judy also enjoyed going to track and volleyball games to see her great-niece. She also took a trip to Germany with her nephew and they were the apple of her eye.

Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Minonk, with Franciscan Friars officiating. A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 4:45 p.m. at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk, followed by a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
