MINONK – Karen Jean Gresham, 52, died Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Heritage Health in Minonk.
She was born Dec. 3, 1966, in Chicago, the daughter of Walter E. and Geneva Killough Gresham Sr.
Survivors include four brothers, Perry (Carol) Rhoades, Washburn, Scott (Kathy) Rhoades, Mooresville, N.C., Steve (Angel) Rhoades, Jacksonville, N.C., and Wally (Christine) Gresham, Lancaster, S.C.; three sisters, Geni (Ron) Kalley, Scappoose, Ore., Danette (Steve) Bellman, Secor and Kathy (Bruce) Brucker, Washington; 27 nieces and nephews and 37 great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Karen worked at HRC in Clinton for over 25 years before she retired in 2016. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Clinton for over 30 years, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed sign language and was a very proud lifetime member of the Martina McBride Fan Club. Karen also was a prior participant in the Special Olympics, as she medal many times and achieved goals in bowling, gymnastics and track. She loved and served Jesus with her whole heart and leaves behind a lifetime of memories. Her sweet, smiling, loving, joyful, kind, caring, funny Jesus loving personality will be missed beyond measure. Karen brought so much joy to everyone she met and taught us all the meaning of pure, unconditional love. She absolutely adored her family and all kinds of music. Some of her favorite pastimes were writing love letters to her friends & family and proudly proclaiming that she was a Christian. Karen loved to belt out her songs on the radio with her beloved guitar and microphone. Her radiant personality was a true testament to who she was, as she never knew a stranger and never knew a bad day. Karen was and always will be the angel of the family. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Services will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso. Visitation will take place Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics.
