MINONK – Marie Catherine Oltman, 101, died at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, at Heritage Health in Minonk.
She was born Nov. 27, 1917, near Benson, the daughter of John and Lena Gastman Folkerts. She married Roland Oltman on Sept. 29, 1937. He died Feb. 28, 1992.
Survivors include two sons, John (Rebecca) Oltman, Minonk and Harvey (Catherine) Oltman, Lacon; one daughter, Joan Osterman, Minonk; five grandchildren: Jeff Oltman, Amy Oltman, John Oltman, Grant (Angie) Oltman and Julie (Paul) Brooks; seven great- grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and two brothers, Eldon (Dorothy) Folkerts, Minonk and Ron (Dorothy) Folkerts, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Virgil Folkerts, and one sister, Lorene Johnson.

Marie was the oldest of five children. The couple farmed between Minonk and Benson until they retired to Minonk in 1967. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Minonk, where she was involved in various groups, and the Woodford County Home Extension, including a stint as leader. Marie was a homemaker who enjoyed playing piano, sewing, traveling and visiting with friends and family.
Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Ed Sinclair officiating. Visitation will take place this morning from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in Clayton Township Cemetery, Benson. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home in Minonk is in charge of the arrangements.
