ROANOKE – Raymond L. Mellin, Sr., 83, died at 9:59 p.m., Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
He was born Jan. 3, 1935, in St. Anne, the son of Raymond B. and Gertrude Yoder Mellin. He married Marlene T. Sherer on Dec. 4, 1954, in Glenwood. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Lelia (Neil) Hodel, rural Roanoke; three sons, Lee (Marlene) Mellin, Jr. and Lenny (Tiffany Boswell) Mellin, both of rural Benson, and Larry Mellin, Roanoke; 10 grandchildren, Calla (Alex) Fehr, Jenna (Tyler) Weber, Heather (Matt) Leman, Dustin Mellin, Jacy Anderson, Jake Anderson, Katrina (Brian) Gessi, Aja Mellin, Amber Reeves and Meaghanne Mellin and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Lindsay Hodel.
Raymond was the owner/operator of the Koffee Kup for seven years and the Pizza Place for 31 years, both in Roanoke. He was an avid Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears’ fan and also coached Little League baseball. Raymond enjoyed playing cards and bowling.
Services will be held Saturday at noon at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home, Roanoke, with Trevor Bartolomucci officiating. Visitation will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Roanoke Township Cemetery in Roanoke.
