ROANOKE – Richard Lee Burton, 80, died Monday, April 29, 2019, at Heritage Health in El Paso.
He was born on July 4, 1938 in Peoria, the son of Buril and Alvina Ficht Burton. He married Joan Bertschi on May 22, 1989, in Eureka. She survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Steven (Elsa) Williams, Milton, Fla., Alan (Chelsea) Burton, Normal, Richard (Kayla) Burton, Cornell and Aaron Blakey, Peoria; one daughter, Cheryl Upton of the state of Florida; three brothers. Roger Burton, Robert Burton and Ronald Burton and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Burton.
Richard served in the Navy for 22 years as a jet engine machine where he achieved the rank of E-6. He had five tours of duty in Vietnam. After his service, Richard worked as a truck driver at American Buildings Company, El Paso. He was a member of the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church, rural Roanoke, and was a Legionnaire.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home, Roanoke, with Frank Sauder and John Bradle officiating. Visitation will take place Saturday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery,
