RUTLAND – Robert Allan Majesky, 72, died at 10:44 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2019, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
He was born Sept. 25, 1946, Streator, the son of Thomas and Elsie Turini Majesky. He married Mary Lou Gallup on Nov. 26, 1976, in Minonk. She survives.
Other survivors include two stepsons, Brian Barth, Minonk and W. Keith (Tammy) Barth, Pattonsburg and three grandchildren, Willie Barth, Tyler Barth and Isaac Barth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dennis Majesky, two grandchildren, Audrey Barth and Sarah Barth, one daughter-in-law, Sharon Barth, and his best friend, R.G. Drummett.
Robert graduated from Toluca High School in 1965. He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict from 1966 to 1968. Robert received his training at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, N.C. He was wounded during his service. Robert received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal and the Rifle Marksman Badge. He worked for Caterpillar and later as a supply superintendent at the Pontiac Correctional Center, Pontiac. Robert was of the Catholic faith and was an avid Chicago Cubs’ fan. He was a lifelong member of Rutland American Legion Post No. 1121, Pontiac Veterans of Foreign War Post 886 and the American Veterans (AMVETS).
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held at a later date in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Minonk, where military rites will be conducted. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home in Toluca is in charge of the arrangements.
