EUREKA - The Heart of Illinois Conference large division hosts shut out their second opponent of the season Friday night in a 20-0 win over Deer Creek-Mackinaw on homecoming at McCollum Field.

Eureka (3-1, 1-1) head coach Jason Bachman placed an emphasis on getting the ground game cranking, which it did, as they churned out 204 yards.

"I thought we ran the ball better this week especially the power run game," he said. "I felt like my o-(offensive) line moved some people around. Matt (Martin) and Hunter (Gladson) both ran the ball well."

Martin finished with 21 carries for 109 yards, while Gladson followed with 13 rushes for 89 yards and a touchdown.

Eureka's defense limited the Chiefs (1-3, 1-1) to two first downs and minus 13 yards of total offense in the second half. DCM had minus five rushing yards on the game.

Notes: The hosts had 208 yards of total offense over the final 24 minutes. They recorded five quarterback sacks including a pair by Jared Farney.
