WENONA - Fieldcrest pounded out 12 hits in a 11-1 victory over Heart of Illinois Conference foe Ridgeview Monday at the middle school. The game was called in the sixth inning because of the 10-run rule.
Koy Allen supplied three of the dozen hits, while winning pitcher Landon Cook added two. The Knights (5-3, 2-1) got on the board with four in the second, which included a two-run single from Allen.
“Since the Eureka game, we’ve been struggling,” said Fieldcrest coach Mark Brown of the offense. “At this point, we’ve told them to go back to the basics. Today was about just swinging away.”
Cook went all six on the hill, as he allowed a run on two hits. He walked one and struck out seven.
Jalen Duncan, who drove in the lone Ridgeview (0-7, 0-3) run, was the pitcher of record. Their defense was guilty of six errors.
Notes: The Mustangs' last win was May 14, 2018, over Bloomington Cornerstone Christian/Normal Calvary Christian in the Blue Ridge Regional. Their last victory on the road was April 28 of '18 also versus the co-op.
