FARMINGTON - For the second consecutive season, Eureka was eliminated in a sectional final by Brimfield/Elmwood. The latest was Saturday by an 11-6 score.

The Indians (27-6) collected 14 hits, four of which were home runs. Winning pitcher Parker Pillman hit two, while Caileb Johnson blasted a shot with two aboard to highlight a four-run bottom of the fifth inning.

"A day like this, we had a chance for a couple to leave the yard," commented Hornets' coach Dane Wear. "(B/E) is a heck of a hitting team. They're a better hitting team than we expected."

Adam Anderson picked up three of the nine Eureka (25-8) hits, including a solo homer in the second. He also knocked in three runs.

The Indians' season ended with a 7-5 defeat to Rock Island Alleman in the Moline Supersectional on Monday.

Notes: The game was quite topsy-turvy, as the teams exchanged the lead on five occasions. The first four hitters in the Hornets’ batting order were a collective five for 10 with two runs batted in and seven total bases, while B/E was 10 of 14, four homers, seven RBIs and 20 total bases. Anderson and the Indians' Tyler Wessels each missed the cycle by a triple.
