TREMONT - Fieldcrest was limited to two hits and three baserunners in a 6-1 defeat to Brimfield/Elmwood in regional competition on Wednesday afternoon.

A three-run homer from Olivia Gilles in the bottom of the first inning got B/E (28-8) on the board. The catcher added a two-run single in the fifth.

B/E's Haley Wallace struck out 11 over the complete game route. She yielded a two-out run scoring single by Alyiah Fuchs in the top of the fifth.

“It’s a big momentum swing when the other team gets ahead of you. We battled back, but they got the momentum back," said Knights' coach Liz Kay, whose squad finished with an 11-11 record.

The host Turks blanked the Indians 1-0 in Saturday morning's championship clash.

Notes: The B/E co-op began in 1998. They were the two A runner-up four seasons ago, as the Indians won a program-best 32 games. They dropped the championship game 1-0 in 11 to Nashville. Last year, the Indians were 29-4, but lost 10-0 in six to eventual champ Rockridge in the Farmington Sectional final.
