Rossman advances: Brynn Rossman of host Roanoke-Benson moved onto the next round in the three-point competition held prior to Friday's regional final that saw Illini Bluffs defeat Stark County 42-29. Rossman will be one of 16 individuals on hand in the Abingdon-Avon Sectional. The first group shoots at approximately 5:40 on Thursday prior to the 7 p.m. final between Lewistown and IB.

Trio headed to semifinals: Eureka's Brayden Peiffer (106 pounds), Asher Wiegand (126) and Joel Baer (220) are among the final four in the Petersburg Porta Sectional after Friday's action. In his only match of the day, Wiegand recorded a 13-0 major decision victory. Baer's win moved his seasonal record to 29-0.
Two punch tickets to the big meet: Asher Wiegand (126) and Brayden Peiffer (106) qualified for state competition with their performance at Saturday's Porta Sectional. Wiegand won his weight class with two victories, including a 7-2 decision over Macomb's Hunter Protsman in the title bout. This will be his fourth consecutive appearance at state. Peiffer took fourth at 106 and clinched a berth with a 6-2 decision over Josiah Grant of Tremont during wrestlebacks. State matches start Thursday at the State Farm Center on the University of Illinois campus in Champaign-Urbana.
