YWCA to display youths' self-portraits

BLOOMINGTON — "Express Yourself," an art exhibit including self-portraits by YWCA McLean County Young Wonders students, will be open to the public 3 to 7 p.m. Monday and July 23 at Main Gallery 404, 404 N. Main St., Bloomington. The exhibit is free.

The art results from a program giving children an opportunity to create self-portraits as a therapeutic tool making art reflecting the diversity of Bloomington-Normal. The students see themselves in a positive light while experiencing their art on display, said Melissa Breeden, Young Wonders senior director.

The program is supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, the McLean County Arts Center and the National Endowment for the Arts.
