Six Week Film School begins

NORMAL — The Six Week Film School kicks off Sept. 26 with a showing of "A Streetcar Named Desire" at Normal Theater, uptown Normal.

The six-film series is held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays; you can attend any individual film or all six. Reserve a seat in advance by visiting .  

Each session features a brief introduction and post-show discussion led by Illinois State University's William Thomas McBride.

The fall series is called "Classic Broadway Stage to Stylized Hollywood Screen."

Other films in the series are "Dutchman," Oct. 3; "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf," Oct. 17; "Boys in the Band," Oct. 24; "True West," Nov. 7; and "Death of a Salesman," Nov. 14.

Cackle Shack opens Sept. 22

BLOOMINGTON — The inaugural Bloomington show of "The Cackle Shack," a new comedy show, will be Sept. 22 at Eastland Suites and Conference Center, 1801 Eastland Drive.

Greg Hahn will perform beginning at 9 p.m. Doors open at 8 p.m. 

The monthly shows will be offered in Bloomington and Urbana and are sponsored by Eastland Suites and The Snyder Companies. The first Urbana show is Sept. 21 at Eastland Suites Urbana, with Hahn taking the stage at 8 p.m.
