"The Spongebob Musical" kicks off the season Oct. 29 and 30. A roster of Grammy Award winners and a Tony Award-winning design team helps bring one of the world's most beloved characters to the stage. It features songs by a variety of well-known artists, including John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, Sara Bareilles and Lady Antebellum.
"Jersey Boys" takes the audience behind the music and inside the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons in the Tony and Grammy Award-winning true-life musical phenomenon, playing two performances, Nov. 19 and 20.
"Waitress" makes its Peoria debut for two performances on Feb. 16, 2020. Inspired by the Hollywood film, "Waitress" tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie maker who dreams of a way out of her small town. The show features music from Grammy Award-winner Sara Bareilles.
"Blue Man Group" returns to Peoria for two shows March 17 and 18, 2020. "Blue Man Group" performances are celebrations of human connection through art, music, comedy and non-verbal communication.
"Beautiful" finishes the Broadway season, with two performances April 7 and 8, 2020. Long before she was Carole King, the chart-topping music legend, she was Carol Klein, Brooklyn girl with passion and chutzpah. "Beautiful" tells the true story of King's rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband, Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history.
"We Will Rock You" is the season's first additional show, with one show on Sept. 19. With the Oscar-winning film, "Bohemian Rhapsody," the music of Queen is more popular than ever. "We Will Rock You" follows two revolutionaries, Galileo and Scaramouche, on a quest to save rock 'n' roll in a post-apocalyptic world where there are no musical instruments and rock 'n' roll has died.
"The Nutcracker" has been a tradition for generations of Peoria families. Staged by the Peoria Ballet, "The Nutcracker" will feature the music of Tchaikovsky performed live by the Heartland Festival Orchestra. This is the first year the show will be included in the Ameren Illinois Broadway Series, with three performances Dec. 14 and 15.
