Taking hits with Tritt: Veteran Grammy/CMA-winning country singer Travis Tritt is the designated heavy-hitter for this summer's Ford County Fair grandstand concert at the fairgrounds in Melvin. Tickets for the 7 p.m. June 29 show start at $25 and are now on sale at www.fordcountyfair.org. Also on the bill: rising star Craig Campbell, who opens for Tritt, and Jordan Davis, who heads up the concert's after-party. Dubbed one of “The Class of ’89” that included Garth Brooks, Clint Black and Alan Jackson, Tritt helped dominate country charts in the 1990s, with his 25-year career producing, among assorted other honors, two Grammy award wins and 19 Top 10 hits.
Brotherly love: Sibling harmony returns to Central Illinois next fall, courtesy folk rockers the Avett Brothers, who are touring on behalf of their current "True Sadness" album. The North Carolina band, formed 17 years ago by brothers Scott and Seth Avett, will be in the U of I State Farm Center in Champaign at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27, with tickets priced from $45-$65, and going on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
Taj + Keb = : Do the math, they equal TajMo, the new collaborative project fusing the talents of two certified blues legends, Taj Mahal and Keb' Mo'. The fusion makes its Central Illinois premiere in a concert this summer at the Virginia Theater in Champaign ... at 8 p.m. Aug. 9, with tickets priced from $45-$125, and going on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via the Virginia box office.
In the Bush league: Peoria's Monarch Music Hall, which debuts with its first music event this weekend, has bagged its biggest rock game to date in the venue's early going ... Brit rockers Bush, with original members Gavin Rossdale and Robin Goodridge still on board, at 7:30 p.m. April 17. Tickets, now on sale via the Castle Theatre box office in Bloomington, are $39.50-$55.
