Dukes of Earle: When Bloomington’s Castle Theatre revved up for its big first anniversary party in 2011, the birthday headliner was the legendary Steve Earle, along with his live band, The Dukes. It's taken another half-dozen birthdays, but Earle & The Dukes are headed back to the Castle this summer, at 8 p.m. June 9, along with their "30th Anniversary of Copperhead Row Tour," the 1988 third studio album that was billed as Earle's first full-on "rock record" ... or as Rolling Stone has billed it, one of "50 Country Albums Every Rock Fan Should Own." The Mastersons open the show, with tickets priced at $32 and $35.
Jonny be back: A reminder that tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday for Grammy-winning bluesman Jonny Lang's return engagement to the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts this summer. The singer-guitarist, who headlined a show during the 2015-16 season, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 7. The concert is the kick-off show in the BCPA's 2018-19 Mainstage season, with tickets priced from $25 to $45, via the BCPA Ticket Office.
Off Broadway: The Peoria Civic Center's 2017-18 Ameren Illinois Broadway Series will offer a quartet of nationally touring shows passing through the venue between October and April 2019. First up, in its first Central Illinois pass, is a 15-performance stand for Disney's The Lion King, Oct. 2-13. Then: Stomp, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 27-28; another Central Illinois premiere, Finding Neverland, 1 and 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2; and the return of Rent, 7:30 p.m. April 24-25. Current season ticket holders have the first shot at season tickets, while season seats for the rest of us go on sale June 18 via the PCC box office.
Fellowship of the ring: Two Central Illinois dates have been announced for the spring swing of WWE Live through the Midwest. The lineups include Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, The Miz, Alexa Bliss and more. Tickets are in the $15-$105 range at both venues.
