Register now for the Miller Park Zoological Society’s 15th annual Miller Park Zoo Stampede on Saturday. This 5K run, 3K walk, and ¼-mile fun run for children 10 and under is the first race on the Lake Run Club circuit for the year. The 5K course winds through Miller Park and the adjoining neighborhood. The race starts at 10 a.m. followed by the 3K stroll. The first 200 registered 5K and 3K participants will receive a T-shirt. The 1/4-mile fun run starts at 9:30 a.m. Register at www.mpzs.org. Maple Sirup Experience
Have you ever tasted ‘sweet water’ dripping from a spile? It’s almost that time of year when buckets decorate the sugar maples throughout Funks Grove. Attend the Sugar Grove Nature Center Maple Sirup Experience on Saturday. Gather around the fire at the sirup camp to learn how American Indians and early settlers collected and prepared sap. Aussie sensation Guy McLean headlines the 2012 Illinois Horse Fair Clinics Friday through March 4 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. McLean will conduct clinics and star in Illinois Horse Fair’s HorseCapades evening entertainment. There’s also a Western Dressage clinic, gaited riding and barrel racing clinics, mounted games and 140 vendors.
